8 HUGS, 4 children, 4 adults (1 husband, 2 neighborhood friends, 1 Whole Foods employee)
For a long time now I have been wanting a second dog. We have an amazing female black lab that I adore but I want her to have a companion to play with. Last week I fell in love. He is an American Foxhound mix named Midas. (check out the link…isn’t he sooooo cute?) He has the prettiest blue eyes I have ever seen. So, what does this have to do with my hugs? You are so not going to believe this.
The first time I saw him, he had just arrived at the SPCA and I was not allowed to visit him. I wasn’t sure of his temperament so I went today without the children. Turns out he has an amazing laid back, loveable personality. I began thinking how nicely he would fit in with my family. A volunteer was sitting on the floor telling me all about Midas (cute name, huh?) when he walked over and placed a paw on her shoulder. I became quiet just watching to see what he would do. He placed his other paw on her other shoulder. I fully anticipated him to hump her. I mean that’s what male dogs do, right? Apparently not this one. He leaned in near her head and gave her one big beautiful doggie hug. I just about melted right then and there. It’s pretty shocking he’s not home with me already. Next week, the whole family will go to visit him and we will make a decision together if he is meant to be our 6th family member. Meanwhile, I was so excited at the prospect of adopting him that I completely forgot to ask the volunteer for a hug. D’oh! Oh well. If everything works out the way I am hoping, I will have an opportunity again very soon.
Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
