6 HUGS, 2 children, 3 adults
By 8:30 this morning I already had my material for today’s post. I received an email and a facebook message from 2 different friends reaching out to me about my hugs. What an incredible way to start the day.
The first message I received was a request for a virtual hug, which I denied because she lives too close and I told her she would be getting the real thing later in the day. Turns out, I should have paid closer attention to her request. She was on her way to take a test that she had been diligently studying for during what little free time she had. (She had even been neglecting book club reading and driveway drinking!) She was so nervous about the test that she just wanted to know that she had the support of her friends and thought of me and my hugs. Why deny the virtual hug? Not sure what I was thinking because its not like there will ever be a shortage of hugs. I will never hold out again on any type of hug request. Needless to say I tried to make up for it with 2 real hugs. 1 for the early morning request and 1 because I am so proud of all that she is accomplishing.
The second message I received was in response to yesterdays post from one of my friends that was at dinner last night. … from my perspective, I think you made your new friend more comfortable by hugging her. She had so much fun and talked so much more than she normally does. She even commented on how much she liked you. For me, I think your hug brought some walls down. This brought me to tears. This is exactly why I have chosen to write this blog. Who else will I affect? How will I affect them? Oh man, it just gives me the chills thinking about it.
Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
