Day 10 – Holding up lines

12 1/2 HUGS, 2 children, 5 adults, 1 pregnant belly (3 times, hey…it will hopefully be the last times before that hug is for a newborn!)

So the past few days have been pretty heavy, so I wanted today’s post to be a little lighter.  Well, apparently the universe had the same idea.  Even Hoops and Yoyo have a grasp on the importance of hugs.  This picture is from my calendar that I look at first thing in the morning.  If you don’t know them, check out their cards or website, very funny stuff.

My big breakthrough today was at the mall.  I hesitate to give hugs when there are people waiting behind me in a line.  Today was an especially busy day at the mall and as I was returning an item, a line 4 people deep formed behind me.  One of my goals is to start a ripple effect and here was an opportunity to potentially influence 5 people’s days just by hugging one.  I took the plunge.  I asked the salesperson for a hug.  She exclaimed, “Really?” and as I headed toward her she realized I was serious which just made her laugh.  As I turned to head out, I noticed the woman behind me with a big smile on her face.  Rather than creating impatience, I saw a look of joy.  I was too nervous to bother looking at the rest of the line, but I hope at the very least they took a moment to laugh at my insanity.  At least then I will have done my job.  People may think I am crazy, but at least I will get them talking and sharing and who knows how far that ripple effect will go.

Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
