12 HUGS, 7 children (they are just so darn huggable), 3 adults (1 husband, 2 neighbors)
Today as I was waiting in line at McDonald’s to get a hamburger for a friend’s dog’s birthday (birthday treat), I saw this bumper sticker on the car in front of me. The small print reads, What goes around, comes around. I really feel that there is a shift towards kindness that is happening all around us. I wanted to get out and give her a hug, and I would have if those darn McDonald’s lines didn’t move so fast. Probably for the best, I think I freaked her out by taking pictures of her car. If that was your car and you ever read this, I am soooo sorry about that, I just liked your bumper sticker.
A few days ago I stumbled across a blog post by https://spiritofyolo.wordpress.com entitled Hug it Forward. Turns out this is a whole movement! Through the website, www.hugitforward.com you can track hugs worldwide and for each hug, $1 gets donated to the Hug it Forward foundation. Bottle schools are being built with these funds in Guatemala. You can read all about it on their website. As a matter of fact, if you are checking out their website, please say that you were hugged by me! My user name is Capponi002 and enter your zip code. I have already registered my hug from SpiritofYolo! I love this idea for fundraising and will most likely do something similar in this next year. I will keep you posted!
On a final note, I think my family is really getting into my blog. My 4 year old takes every opportunity he can to squeeze me as hard as he can giving me his “best hug yet”. (His words.) My 1 year old runs to me periodically throughout the day with awesome squeezes for such a little man. Tonight, just as I was getting ready to write this blog my husband looked at me and told me he knew what I could call this post. “Surprise hug,” he said. I gave him a knowing smile and took the bait, “Why?” I asked. No sooner had the words come out of my mouth and he was lunging at me into a full on bear hug. This hug thing really is catching on.
Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
