16 HUGS, 5 children, 9 adults (1 husband, 1 personal trainer and friend, 3 boot camp buddies, 1 Smith’s Farm employee, 1 neighborhood friend, 1 therapist, 1 Hallmark employee)
My day started at 5:50AM when I got up for boot camp. It was my first time there and when I arrived I immediately gave 2 hugs knowing that no one would be wanting gross sweaty hugs after it was over. Oh man, I was wrong! We wrapped things up and were hobbling back to our cars. One of my boot camp buddies was in a hurry (Ha Ha, I almost spelled that huggy. LOL, I digress) and as she was rushing off to her car I let her know that I would have hugged her, but we were all gross and sweaty. She stopped and exclaimed, “Oh my goodness, I want a hug! I have been waiting for one and this is the first time I’ve seen you since you started. Even if it’s a sweaty one.” In that moment I was completely bowled over by the power of a hug. She was rushing to get her children on the bus and even though she didn’t have the time, she stopped, turned around and made the time for a hug. I even got a message from her later in the day thanking me for the hug and apologizing for rushing it. That was not rushed, that was a beautiful moment that touched me to the core.
Today was a day that all of my hugs were well received. I received responses like, “I love hugging” and “Of course I will hug you”. The Smith’s Farm employee even went so far as to tell me that I made her day. None of these people realize just how much they have made mine.
More comments came flooding in today. I even got a special mention in Pam’s blog, http://www.pleemiller.blogspot.com/. Her post today was beautiful and worth a look. The more we share thoughts and words filled with kindness and love the better this world can become.
Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
