3 HUGS, 2 children 1 husband
I didn’t think anyone would really want a hug as I would have been toting around a croupy 1 year old. That hacking cough is enough to scare anyone away. Not to mention the fact that he had a fever and was almost certainly contagious. I suppose I have to consider the health of others before spreading joy (as well as other contaminants).
Awhile ago, my husband had mentioned Juan Mann, the founder of the Free Hugs Campaign. It began by him holding up a sign that read FREE HUGS in hopes that he might brighten some strangers lives. There is a video on his site that actually brought me to tears. It starts in black and white with Juan holding the sign as people ignore him and pass him by. It then changes to color as people start approaching him and offering up their embraces. Set to beautiful music, the whole thing is very moving. It’s worth a look at the video and his controversial, but inspiring story.
I have tons of ideas for the upcoming year and this one is already in the works. One of these days that will be me out there holding up a sign reading FREE HUGS and waiting to bask in the warmth of new friend hugs.
Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
