Day 41 – Stay at Home Hugs

4 HUGS, 2 children, 2 adults (1 husband, 1 UPS driver)

The kids are sick AGAIN.  How am I supposed to spread joy to others if I can’t leave the house?  The only thing I would be spreading is germs.  Bleh.  UPS to the rescue!  Thank you for showing up today.  You gave me the opportunity to hug someone without leaving my house.  You probably would have appreciated it more if I had been motivated to shower today, but well, I hope you appreciated the gesture anyway.

Today I found a book that I used to refer to often for inspiration.  It’s a little gift book called, Anything is Possible by Meiji Stewart.  Here are some quotes I find fitting for me at this moment:

We are here on earth to do good for others.  What the others are here for, I don’t know.  W.H. Auden

The moment you commit and quit holding back, all sorts of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance will rise up to help you.  The simple act of commitment is a powerful magnet for help.  Napoleon Hill

Confidence doesn’t come out of nowhere.  It’s a result of something…hours and days and weeks and years of constant work and dedication.  Roger Staubach

Take your mind out every now and then and dance on it.  It is getting all caked up.  Mark Twain

I especially like that last one.  Today was a trying day.  I think the jive is in order.

Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.

  1. today there is a girl i work with….both of us have been proclaimed nonhuggers for quite some time….”okay’ we both have issues and are working on it.
She was in my office talking and I noticed she was tearing up…and without even thinking about it…I hugged her….and she hugged me back….
new experience hugging an employee…..thanks for inspiring me.

    • Pam, do you mind if I add this story to the Your Stories page of the blog? It is such an amazing story. So simple, yet so profound. I look forward to the day when I can get one of your hugs.

    • Thanks, Meg! The new look is much more cozy and more my style.

I was actually able to use that quote twice yesterday. Once in the blog and once to a girl on twitter having a bad day. Seriously must look into more Twain quotes.
