Day 45 – Memorial Day Hugs

6 HUGS, 4 children (1 recovering from tonsillectomy), 2 adults (1 husband, 1 neighborhood friend)

All week long I have been looking for a Memorial Day Parade in my Raleigh area.  Maybe I am missing something, but I have yet to find one.  There are events happening in Charlotte and other areas more than 1 hour away, but nothing around our state’s capitol.  I am saddened that the city does not understand the importance of honoring our fallen soldiers.  I am going to spend this weekend doing just that, honoring these men that gave their life so that I may have the freedom to write this blog. Thank you Dorie Miller and countless others.  My hugs this weekend are for you.

Words to Taps
(Note: there are no “official” words to Taps
below are the most popular.)

Day is done,
gone the sun,
From the hills,
from the lake,
From the skies.
All is well,
safely rest,
God is nigh.

Go to sleep,
peaceful sleep,
May the soldier
or sailor,
God keep.
On the land
or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night,
Must thou go,
When the day,
And the night
Need thee so?
All is well.
Speedeth all
To their rest.

Fades the light;
And afar
Goeth day,
And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well;
Day has gone,
Night is on.

Thanks and praise,
For our days,
‘Neath the sun,
Neath the stars,
‘Neath the sky,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh.

If you have a loved one that you lost in the line of duty, please allow me to honor them with a mention on my blog.

Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
