16 HUGS, 6 children, 5 adults (1 husband, 3 neighborhood friends, 1 gas station attendant)
This morning, I needed to buy gas for our lawnmower. I thought about putting it off, but something urged me to leave the house. Maybe it was just that I couldn’t take the state of our lawn anymore, but I like to think that once again something bigger than me was at work. I went to a small gas station near my house that I have never been to before. It is a convenient location, but so old fashioned that they do not have the credit card station outside, so I always go somewhere else. Today, something drew me in. I walked inside to pay and had a pleasant conversation with the woman behind the counter. I knew that if I was going to ask her for a hug I would need to lean over the counter. Would she be willing? She was absolutely willing and proceeded to tell me that someone sent me to her. When she saw the questioning look on my face she let me know that her mother died last week. She seemed so joyful during our conversation I never would have guessed. I proceeded to give her another hug. As I was leaving, she said, “An angel sent you to me.” I believe they did.
I spent some time researching fallen soldiers from NC to honor on my blog this weekend. I came across the U.S. Army Special Operations Command Facebook page. The memorial in this picture is located in Fort Bragg, NC. My hugs go out to the family members of these fallen soldiers.
Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
