Day 97 – Put on a Happy Face

12 HUGS, 4 children, 8 adults (1 husband, 4 neighborhood friends, 1 door to door salesman, 1 waste disposal worker, 1 Target employee)

Put On A Happy Face…Sing it with me now…

Gray skies are gonna clear up,
Put on a happy face!
Brush off the clouds and cheer up,
Put on a happy face!

Take off that gloomy mask of tragedy,
It’s not your style.
You’ll look so good that you’ll be glad ya decided to smile!

Pick out a pleasant outlook,
Stick out that noble chin,
Wipe off that full-of-doubt look,
Slap on a happy grin!

And spread sunshine all over the place, just
Put on a happy face!

Put on a happy face!

Put on a happy face!

And if you’re feeling cross and bickerish
Don’t sit and whine.
Think of banana splits and licorice,
And you’ll feel fine!

I knew a girl so gloomy,
She’d never laugh or sing,
SHe wouldn’t listen to me,
Now she’s a mean old thing!

So spread sunshine all over the place, just
Put on a happy face!

Some days are just easier than others. Today was one of those rough ones. I admit it, I was kinda throwing a tantrum. I don’t wanna hug, I don’t wanna. I know I have made a commitment, I know I can bring others joy, I know I will probably feel better, but I don’t wanna.

But, I did. I put on my happy face (thanks in no small part to a Twitter friend that reminded me to start with a smile), wore my hair in a new style and applied a bright pink lipstick that begged to be worn on a smile. I instantly felt better and hugged lovingly, fearlessly and joyfully. I hope I helped those that I hugged put on their happy faces.

Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
