8 HUGS, 4 children, 4 adults (1 husband, 2 neighborhood friends, 1 Kroger employee)
I think I totally freaked out a young employee today at Kroger. As he finished bagging my groceries he was on his way to open a new lane because the lines had gotten long. Before he had a chance to do that, I asked him for a hug. He was clearly not paying attention because he kind of stopped in his tracks and looked at me with a question mark on his face. I repeated myself. “May I have a hug?” The look on his face as he leaned in for the hug was a kind of half smile. After the hug, it was a full on smile from ear to ear. I love that. It’s instant gratification for me. A way of knowing that my kind gesture is bringing joy to others. I walk away thinking to myself, “Great job. Your work here is done.”
Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
