Day 216 – Sunshine On My Face

15 HUGS, 8 children, 6 adults (1 husband, 4 neighborhood friends, 1 therapist)

Today was one of those gloriously perfect North Carolina days that remind me exactly why hubby and I chose to live here. The weather was perfect. The sun warmed my body and the breeze kept me cool. There was no distinct difference between the temperature inside my home or outside in my yard. I love these days because it always draws out the neighborhood. At one point there were 8 kids running around my yard while 4 of us moms chatted in the road. (Yes, wine was involved. Isn’t it always?)

The best part of it all? Hugs. (What? Did you think I was going to say something different?) Not only did I get to hug my neighborhood friends, the children have become so accustomed to my hugs, that the instant they see me they either run straight into my arms or give me those bashful looks while slowly inching forward to receive their Miss Melinda hug. Oooooo I just want to eat them all up!!!

I can only hope that during their tough teen angst filled years that they remember my arms will always be here waiting.

Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.

    • I remember telling my hubby almost every day that first year we lived here that I felt like I was on permanent vacation. I hope you had both had a chance to go out and enjoy these past 2 days!
