Day 240 – Christmas Party

16 HUGS, 3 children, 13 adults (1 husband, 3 neighborhood friends, 9 of hubby’s colleagues)

First off, sorry this post is so late. Hubby’s company Christmas party was tonight. I knew of at least 2 hugs I would be getting (Hi S &S!) and I wanted to make sure I included them. I really wasn’t sure how the hug thing would go at a company party. I mean, if it was for a company I was working for that may be different, but I was there as a spouse. Was it ok to just go around hugging people? Would that be deemed unprofessional? You be the judge. Aside from the 2 I knew I would get, here is how some of the others went:

– Without asking I leaned in for a hug from a colleague that I briefly met before. She had seemed so friendly that I felt comfortable not asking. She responded with a, “oh, we are going to hug.” As she leaned in for the hug she exclaimed, “well good. I am a hugger.”

– As I met hubby’s boss for the first time I shook his hand as hubby mentioned, “She’s a hugger.” Surprisingly, no awkwardness ensued. He happily leaned in and hugged me.

– A former boss whom I had met at last year’s party came to chat with us. As he was getting ready to leave he was the one to lean in for a hug. Oh My Goodness! For once it was me that was taken aback. It was great for me to experience because I realized that just because someone is taken aback doesn’t mean they don’t like it. It just means it came as a surprise. I am not quite sure I understood that before today.

Yeah, I really like this company.

Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
