I hadn’t planned on getting involved. I mean how much of a difference can I make with only a handful of followers (compared to huge sites with hundreds of thousands of followers) but on the heels of the quotes from Dr. MLK, Jr it is my duty to stand up for what I believe is right.
Today there is a black out around the internet protesting both the SOPA and PIPA acts that are quickly passing through congress. (Watch more about it here) Hubby had mentioned something a few days ago but I don’t think I understood the importance of what these bills are trying to do. Thanks to the black out which A Daddy Blog is participating in, I learned. This is censorship at it’s worst. I mean, there have been numerous copyrighted material that I have used in my blog. According to these bills I could not only be sued, but jailed for them. (Remember that 12 year old sued for downloading music? It’s like that.)
So, today I am participating in the blackout (without the actual blackout on my page because I don’t know how). I still hugged today and I will still write about it tomorrow, but for today I hope to bring awareness to at least one more person who will help me make a stand to fight this censorship.
