Day 288 – A Lesson And A Story

7 HUGS, 2 children, 5 adults (1 husband, 1 employee at PetSmart, 1 friend at Smith’s Nursery, 2 neighborhood friends)

Lesson of the day: Do not let your new dog off her leash until you know what she is likely to do. Apparently Abby is REALLY fast. Oh boy she is going to give me a run for the money (literally). I was pleasantly surprised though when I left Sadie and Abby together alone for about an hour and a half. I came home to a nearly pristine house! The only casualty was a small tupperware. Not too bad.

While I was out I had the opportunity to hug the very helpful cashier at PetSmart that answered a few lingering questions I had about Abby’s care. I also got to hug one of the owner’s at Smith’s Nursery who proceeded to share this amazing story with me:

She was at the courthouse this morning and thought of me while witnessing what she called “justice gone right”. A mom who went through all of the proper steps and remained sober for a year earned back custody of her kids. When the verdict was read, she cried and ran to her parents who were crying as well. Someone leaned over to my friend and said, “Someone needs to give them a big hug”. She instantly thought of me knowing I would have done whatever it took to do just that. My favorite part was that she admitted if she hadn’t been blocked in her seat, she may have just done it herself. My heart sings with joy every time I hear ways that hug awareness is spreading.

Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
