Day 289 – Never Miss A Hug Opportunity

9 HUGS, 3 children, 5 adults (1 pediatrician, 1 pediatric nurse, 1 neighborhood friend, 2 grade school friends)

My first hugs of the day were ones that I would have preferred not to have the opportunity for, but when the kids get sick sometimes a visit to the Dr. is in order. Little one got a sudden fever this morning and was complaining of pain. Fortunately the strep and flu tests came back negative. Phew.

Friends of mine already had plans to spend the weekend with us and fortunately fevers don’t scare them. This is the second year in a row they have come down just as one of the kids get sick. I think they are going to start getting a complex. *crossing fingers* Here’s to a healthier next year.

So, this morning I was holding the sick baby in my lap and because of that I didn’t get up to give hubby his hug and kiss on his way out the door. The thing is, he didn’t come to me either. I will admit, I was a little hurt. I hate having him leave for work without that small display of affection. So, what ever came of that? I am so glad you asked. He ended up working late and as I was speaking to him on the phone he let me know what a tough day he had. Sheepishly he admits, “I could really use a hug.” Now, compassionate wife that I am I say, “Well, you should have thought of that before leaving the house without one.” I know, right! I am totally winning wife of the year award. I think he knows I was kidding and of course I will give him the biggest hug in the world when he walks in the door. Will I ever let him leave the house again without one? Doubtful.

Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.

  1. My friends, Needysweety, Bella and I always hug each other. In this society, where we like to keep a space of separation and detachment from other people, my friends and I just enjoy to cuddle each other and give each other some warm hugs.
