Day 323 – Harper, You Are Not Alone

5 HUGS, 2 children, 3 adults (1 husband, 2 friends at Smith’s Nursery)

Look up. No, not at the ceiling. At the top of my blog. Notice anything different? Yup, that’s right, I have added a new page for Hugs for Harper! I did it! Me. All. By. Myself. And, it only took me 2 hours to get it there. Trying to add the donate button from Paypal was a little bit of a nightmare. But, I did it. I figured it out. Ok, fine, I finally googled how to do it right, but whatever. I did it. I am very excited.

So, here are all of the details as I know them right now. (most of which you already know.) On Saturday, April 7, Smith’s Nursery will be hosting Free Hugs (courtesy of yours truly) at their Easter Egg Hunt. During the event I will also be fundraising for Hugs for Harper.  Harper lives in NC, is 5 and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Sept 2011. She is still undergoing chemo. Her mom has taken unpaid leave from work because of her care needs, plus the ALL makes her susceptible to infections so she can’t be around other kids and go to daycare anymore. During the fundraiser I will have sweet notecards for you to send messages of love and support to her and her family. If you are not able to attend, please feel free to donate through my blog or if you prefer to send a check, email me at and I will be happy to provide you with my address.

In the meantime, I am going to be hounding the press, tv stations, newspapers, you name it until someone wants to give me some publicity. (Have connections? Please pass them along!) Together with our donations and encouraging words of love we will provide Harper and her family with some peace of mind that they are not in this alone.

Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
