4 HUGS, 2 children, 1 husband, 1 mom in law
I can officially start hugging again tomorrow and I CAN’T WAIT!! Woo Hoo!! (Also it’s hubby’s birthday, double Woo Hoo!)
Now that I only have 8 more days until my year ends I have been spending a lot of time reflecting on it. Today I marveled at the incredible friendships I have gained and that have been enriched by this experience. I mean, just look at this list:
My blogger friends: Shabana from The Silver Kick Diaries is my most stylish friend and what I love most are the random Twitter hugs I get from her. She always seems to know just the right time to send them (oh, and did I mention she lives across the globe in Dubai??). Pam from radical ramblings and thoughts of a southern girl writes beautiful poetry that is so thought provoking and intriguing with humor and a realness mixed in with it all. I love that she has shared this journey with me almost from the beginning and I felt a kinship with her almost immediately. Patience from Kindness Girl, well I don’t even know where to begin. I love her heart, her kindness, her mission, her photography, just everything. She makes me feel like the world will be at peace one day. Finally, Rita from Adventures of Cinderita, 2011: The Year of Hugging Fearlessly and 10,000 Hugs in 100 Different Cities is my kindred spirit! She began a year of hugging 2 months before I did. We kept in contact comparing stories and sharing each other’s paths. We encouraged each other and cheered our successes. It was comforting to go through this alongside someone else.
My local and longtime friends: Some of these friendships are new, some have just been enriched by this experience. The employees at Brookwood vet are a little of both. They have always been my vet, but over this past year I have had the opportunity to meet them all and get to know the others just a little bit better. What a thoughtful, compassionate, caring group of people. I couldn’t ask for better care for my 4 legged family members. As for the owners and employees at both Smith’s Nursery and Bulldog Express, what can I say? I love local businesses! I was already patrons to both of them, but now, they are friends. I look forward to running errands when they are involved. Come on, that’s saying A LOT, I mean who looks forward to errands?! Then, there is my The Little Gym family. That’s right we have pretty much become a family. The owner, employees, parents, kids, it’s all one big lovefest every Tuesday and I wouldn’t have it any other way. As for my neighborhood friends, we have all spent the last 5 years getting to know each other, but this year has brought me closer to them all. Especially a few in particular. You know who you are because you are reading this right now. 😉 Finally, there have been a few of my friends I have known a long time that my hugging mission really resonated with. Because of it I have been blessed with much more frequent contact with them which of course turns in to a closeness and a bond that is so much more than we ever had before. And, oh my gosh, I almost forgot! My church friends! I belong to a community now and I know it is in no small part to this journey.
And you. All of you. I may not specifically know who you are but I cherish you. I hold you close to my heart and know that this journey was so much more because of you. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for being here with me.
Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
