Day 365 – One More Day

8 HUGS, 2 children, 5 adults (1 husband, 1 employee at Jumpin Jax, 3 friends at Smith’s Nursery)

A letter to myself one year ago tomorrow.

Dear Melinda,

I know you are nervous about starting your journey. I want you to know that people are kinder than you think, you are stronger than you know and your life will be forever changed. Always trust your instincts, they will lead you to where you are needed most and away from where you shouldn’t go. Trust in God for there is always a plan. When you are unsure of yourself just stop. Breathe. Reconnect with the reasons for this journey, to spread joy, love and kindness to others. Your path will open back up to you.

I know at times you will think you are on this journey for the selfish reasons of wanting to feel love and accepted. This is ok. By doing this you will find out how to love and accept yourself and only then can you begin to truly feel it from others. It will happen. Have patience. Oh, and the anxiety you feel over how this will affect your family? How could you have ever thought it would be anything but magical? You have given your family a gift and none of your lives will ever be the same.

Love and Hugs,

Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.

  2. what a fabulous life changing adventure this year has been. I applaud your tenacity, your ability to walk through your fear and your willingness to allow the Creative Energy of the Universe to flow through you. Thank you for allowing me to be witness to wonder.

  3. Hi Melinda! My name is Kelsey, and, believe it or not, I’m related to you! I’m 14 (in the 8th grade). We live in Atlanta, Georgia, and Aunt Jane sent us an article about you and your year of hugs. I decided to check out your blog…what a cool idea! You must make a lot of people’s days :).

    • Hi Kelsey! It’s great to hear from you. I love hearing from family! I like to think I make others happy, but it has gone a long way in bringing me joy too! Please keep in touch! Hugs to you, Melinda
