Memorial Day

1 New Hug (Veteran)

I hold all of our servicemen past and present near and dear to my heart at all times. We all should. They gave us this free life we are so privileged to live. So, this weekend I was thrilled to be able to give not one but three hugs away. 2 to military men, 1 to a military wife. I think I may have shocked the first one.

I was trying to find a parking spot for my hair appointment and I ended up parking farther away than I have ever had to before. Looking back this is no surprise to me. I was meant to be there. As I got out of my truck I noticed a gentleman in military gear. With no introduction or even a “Hi” I said to him, “Can I give you a hug?” He looked at me completely stunned then a HUGE grin appeared on his face as he said, “Oh yeah!” I gave him a huge hug while thanking him for his service to our country. He was kind of laughing and mumbling things I couldn’t quite hear. (I think he was a little flustered) I walked away with a skip in my step and headed off with the freedom to get my hair cut however I wanted.

When I returned to my truck I found the Wounded Veterans flower in my windshield wipers. Thank you for the flower, thank you for your service and to all others we are remembering this weekend,

Please accept this blog as my virtual hug to you.
