1 New Hug (Owner of Buttercream’s Bakeshop)
I love feeling like I am at the right place at the right time. My 2 year old needed a immunization and he decided he wanted a cupcake afterward. I remembered seeing a place in nearby Apex, so I figured we would go there. As I drove by on the way to the Dr. it didn’t quite look the same. I wondered if it had closed down. On the way back I took a chance and after several embarrassing failed attempts at parallel parking we made our way in to the shop. Something still looked a little well, off. Luckily there were 2 cupcakes left, so we got one and sat down. After a few moments we were the only ones in the shop. I went up to ask if they had soy milk for coffee when the owner said, “Oh, I thought about getting it. I knew I should have.” Huh. I then asked, “Did you just open?” Turns out she just opened that day! It was her soft opening. Oh my goodness. What luck! I gave her a hug and wished her all the best.
Mere seconds later in walked about 10 people. My heart swelled with joy for this woman who was probably feeling a little overwhelmed, but business appeared to be booming. In the midst of it all the mail carrier walked in. She introduced herself to the new owner and explained that she wouldn’t be there the next day but gave the name of the carrier who would be. The whole conversation had such a warm small town feel. A true moment of people connecting and caring about one another. It was beyond beautiful.
